At Source – launching our new series of video insight

As we kick off 2026, we are launching “At Source” our regular series of short videos focussing on different aspects of the R&D landscape.

In each episode, I will host a discussion with Source Advisors experts and guests to address some of the FAQs we get from accountants and tax professionals.

Why create our At Source?

If you’ve been around R&D tax relief for any length of time, you’ll know it can feel like a moving target. The legislation evolves, HMRC guidance shifts, and case law develops; suddenly, what felt straightforward a few years ago now comes with layers of complexity, risk, and judgment.

The idea for this video series didn’t start in a marketing meeting. It came directly from conversations with our accounting partners.

Over coffees, Teams calls, and catch-ups, we kept hearing the same questions and concerns from our partners. Some were technical in nature, whilst others related to wider practical issues around claim preparation, risk, and how best to approach client conversations.

Rather than produce another technical blog or other written guidance, we decided to create something that could provide insight and support in a more personable and accessible way.

What to expect from At Source

The result is a series of short videos – At Source. These are designed to answer frequently asked questions, whilst also introducing the people behind the scenes. These are focused conversations with our specialists, including our Managing Director, offering technical opinion alongside a chance for our accountant partners to get to know us all a little better.

We cover topics such as contracting out, R&D in software, new administration requirements of the R&D tax relief scheme, and HRMC enquiries with our direct experience and real-life client examples.

We remain committed to supporting the accountancy profession in a way that is useful, practical, and relevant, and we hope these videos provide a helpful resource for client conversations, or just for your own interest.

And finally…

If you fancy a light-hearted break from the technical content, our team has pulled together a one-minute blooper reel from filming the series, which is mainly me getting it wrong!

As always, we would really appreciate your feedback or suggestions for future topics. Please get in touch, as long as it’s not just to laugh at my blooper mistakes!
