Whether it was the result you wanted or not, football fever has gripped the country this summer and here at Source Advisors, we can’t get enough of it. As we get ready for the return of the Premier League, we’re preparing for our second season of The Source Advisors x Accountants Fantasy Premier League.
What started as a bit of fun quickly became far more competitive than we ever expected. 122 accounting professionals from 50+ accountancy firms competed for a place at the top of the leaderboard and the ultimate prize of a hospitality package at a game of their choice. A huge thank you to everyone who joined us last season and helped make the first Source Advisors x
Accountants FPL League such a success.
Now it’s time to do it all again. To join, here’s our league code: e8n728
The 2025/26 champions
Ethan Powell of Randall & Payne LLP, whose brilliantly named team Wirtz Case Scenario became our first-ever champion. His final score of 2,375 points didn’t just win our league. It placed him inside the top 25,000 Fantasy Premier League managers in the world from a field of more than 13 million players. That’s an incredible achievement.
Ethan claimed Premier League hospitality tickets and has chosen Liverpool’s home fixture against Manchester United. As a Liverpool supporter, he’s understandably excited. The rest of us are understandably jealous.
James Burhouse of Simpson Wood finished second with a £250 Amazon voucher, while Ben Edmunds of Blinkhorns completed the podium, taking home a £100 Amazon voucher.
Advice from the top three
I asked our podium finishers what advice they’d give to anyone hoping to take the title this season. The biggest lesson?
Don’t chase last week’s points.
Ethan’s advice was to stay patient, avoid knee-jerk transfers and think several gameweeks ahead rather than reacting to one good performance.
James agreed, adding that resisting unnecessary four-point transfer hits and planning your chip strategy carefully can make a huge difference over the course of a season.
Ben’s first suggestion was to buy more Manchester United players. As a Manchester United fan, we’ll let you decide how seriously to take that. His broader point, though, was spot on. If you can identify a team that’s improving before everyone else does and back their key players early, you’ll often gain an advantage over the rest of the league.
Every colleague counts
Alongside our individual prizes, we’re introducing an exciting new prize for the Firm Championship.
Last season, Lubbock Fine LLP became our inaugural Firm Champions, recording the strongest average finishing position across all of their entrants.
This year, the winning firm will receive the Source Advisors x Accountants FPL Champions Trophy, presented at your office, along with a team lunch on us to celebrate your success.
So don’t just build the best Fantasy Premier League team. Build the strongest office. Every colleague you persuade to join could make the difference between lifting the trophy or watching a rival firm celebrate instead.
Ready to join the league?
Whether you’re an FPL veteran who plans transfers weeks in advance, or someone who makes decisions five minutes before the deadline, we’d love to have you involved.
The league is completely free and open to everyone working at a UK accountancy firm.
Enter on your own, challenge your colleagues or get your whole office involved.
And this year, there’s even more to play for…
